56 Advanced Layout Modules: a Usage Guide
The catalog has 56 recommended syntax names across 9 categories, 77 recommended scenario entries, and 63 render-layer syntax capabilities in total. Full catalog.
The nine categories, by job
- Opening (
hero,toc,cards,label-title,part,section-title): decide in the first screen whether the article is worth reading. - Infographic (
metrics,steps,timeline,compare): compress structured facts. - Judgment (
verdict,manifesto,myth-fact,audience-fit,bridge): leave the reader with one opinion. - Evidence (
quote,image-text,image-compare,gallery-grid,figure-caption): make claims checkable. - Conversion (
cta, faq, checklist, pricing, cases): land the next action. - Brand (
author-card,people,series,subscribe): repeated identity across posts. - Sprint4 (
callout,changelog,comparison-table,definition,question,quote-card,resource-list,stat-row,tweet): fast, small units. - Free-layout (
split,flow,matrix,dialogue-pair): two-column and flow layouts. - Interactive (
svg-reveal,svg-swipe-gallery): SMIL-only animation, no JS.
Body formats
Modules take one of 9 body formats — fields (21 modules), rows (16), json_object (5), json_array (2), markdown_images (6), markdown_fields (3), split, lines, dialogue. Check a module's format before writing its body:
md2wechat layout show hero
md2wechat layout render hero --var TITLE="First screen"Pick fewer modules
One hero, at most one judgment module, at most one conversion block per article usually beats stacking everything. Discover from the CLI, validate locally, then prove rendering through convert/preview:
md2wechat layout validate --file article.md
md2wechat convert article.md --previewThe catalog is the single source
Since 3.0, user layout YAML overrides are gone; unknown fields fail closed. Compatibility modules (dialogue, gallery, longimage) exist for migration only, and base enhancements (highlight-text, katex, mermaid, gfm-alert) render without module syntax.
